CHARACTER INFO
Character: Norton Campbell
Canon: Identity V, shortly before Norton gets an invitation to the manor.
Age: 28
Background Information: Will this link be good?
Personality:
1) Norton became more gloomy and reserved after surviving a certain “accident” that scarred his face and killed several other miners. He wasn’t always that way- Once, people took his habit of visiting a family friend at the old folk’s home as a sign of his kindness, and he was always admired and envied for his strong work ethic. Now, he mostly keeps to himself… And sometimes, his temperament changes and he becomes more emotional and outwardly greedy. It’s unknown if the magnetic ore he got from that accident is messing with his head or if there was something more below the surface.
2) “He wants money” would be putting it too lightly. Sure, Norton’s a greedy bastard, but he only became a greedy bastard after a life of poverty and hardship. He envies those rich snobs who live a life of luxury when he can barely afford a decent meal after toiling in the mines for long hours, so he’s set his sights on climbing up the social ladder by any means necessary. That being said, he’s got a strong work ethic, as noted by his employers, and is more likely to try treasure hunting if hard work alone doesn’t cut it. Hell, he’d even do small favors like answer a few interview questions if you pay him enough. Anything but going back to the mines.
3) On the other hand, Norton did run off and leave his dad’s brother to rot in the old folk’s home when he promised to share whatever riches he could find. He was also responsible for the explosion that killed his coworkers and burned his face, though it’s hard to say if he was trying to murder them or if he just wanted to get to the gold faster. This man is not only selfish, but has been known to make unethical decisions when he’s desperate enough.
4) As noted before, Norton does not have a high opinion of the rich. He envied how they could live in luxury while he suffered in poverty… Oh, yeah. And Norton is also the type of person who goes into a gift shop and demands free coffee and bread. Make of that what you will.
Abilities & Inventory:
MAGNETIC COMPASS: Your typical magnetic compass. Made of brass, points magnetic north. No magical abilities.
GEOLOGICAL COMPASS: Another tool for mapping out terrain. No magical abilities. Not even magnetic.
WRISTWATCH- Tells the time, needs to be wound every so often.
MAGNET- One side is positive, the other side is negative. Made from part of a magnetic meteorite… Has all the power of a good magnet, that’s it.
He also had this trick in the actual gameplay where he could throw magnets at people and either pull them closer to him or fling them away. Of course, this video game mechanic doesn’t neatly translate to lore, so in Escordvi I’m going to have him get this power from a magic tattoo… Either earth or metal. Leaning towards earth in case he wants to learn how to cause cave-ins or something in the future, what do you guys think?

ARMADA SELECTION
Corsair. Definitely Corsair. Norton’s ambitions fit in nicely with the general Corsair philosophy. Keeping an eye out for fresh opportunities? Check. A desire to find treasure? Check? More likely to look out for himself? Check. Willing to turn to shady tactics in the pursuit of gold? DOUBLE CHECK. He’d definitely be up for stealing from the rich eventually.

Questions: Norton spent a considerable amount of threads doing the Golden Egg quest, and I got the dumb idea of Norton managing to keep an egg and hatch a golden chicken from it… But unfortunately for him, the chicken turns out to be male and unable to lay any eggs at all, much less golden ones. Nothing special about it other than being colored gold. Would this be acceptable?
